On occasion, a flat soled shoe will call to me. (mainly when copious amounts of walking is involved) Leave it to women to take a men’s fashion staple and transform it into our own cause for fashion. As Queen Bey would say, “Who run the world? Girls.” And, that’s why collectively, women also decided to encroach on men’s fashion.
Let me preface by saying I absolutely love heels. I cannot imagine a world without the beauty and presence of an artfully crafted high heeled shoe. The world would be a dark place without them. With that being said, I decided to temporarily jump onto the man bandwagon, slip off my stilettos, and slide into the oxford.
What can I say about these slick silver shoes from Calvin Klein? For starters, they are insanely comfortable, they elevate any outfit, and they’re oh so shiny. I especially love the added detail of the silver inlay into the heel. The functionality of oxfords is quite unlimited. Pair them with a skirt (yes!), a dress (yes!), shorts, jeans, pants or cropped trousers to add some panache to an otherwise basic ensemble. Wearing oxfords or a men’s inspired shoe can definitely add an unexpected element to a traditional outfit. Be a little daring and buy an oxford in a bold color, or buy a thick soled oxford. Whatever your taste in shoes, there is sure to be an oxford that appeals to your style aesthetic.
Instead of wearing a necklace, I opted for this vintage Hermes neck scarf to give my outfit a little more of a city vibe. Scarves are a wonderful accessory and the possibilities with them are endless. Utilizing a scarf to tie onto the strap of a handbag is also a great way to accessorize a bag and give it your own personal stamp.
Define yourself by being yourself. Thank you for reading….xoxo
