Does it feel as though we have officially bypassed Spring and made a beeline to Summer? I have a confession to make….I have taken so many blog photos of myself dressed in fall clothes, I have major anxiety knowing I could be showcasing fall outfits into mid-summer! Noooo! (picture me sprawled out on the floor, tantruming with feet and arms flailing) How can I inspire you to wear a sweater in temperatures that will melt eyeliner halfway down your face? However, in all fairness, it cannot be that hot yet because my Korean mother is still ordering hot tea when we go out to eat.
With Spring around the corner, dressing for weather that can be unpredictable, is a daunting task. It’s hot, it’s cold, and then it’s hot again. Brisk mornings are a joy to dress for, but as the temperatures climb, one might regret wearing that heavier layer. Arizona has gone from the cool 60’s to the high 80’s within a week’s time frame. My only relief from full body pastiness is a tan from a recent vacation to Mexico. (thank goodness!) So the burning question….how to dress for that fickle time period between winter and spring? To prevent any awkward dressing dilemmas, here are a few of my tips for transitioning into spring.
A trend that was everywhere this season, was faux fur! It’s equal parts function and equal parts flash; making it a great statement piece for the fashion forward woman. As many of you know, I really love the color pink. Therefore, I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I found myself obsessing over pink coats this season. If you think wearing a pink coat is a bit over the top, I’m here to tell you that’s simply not the case. Pink is actually a nice neutral hue that can be worn with many colors. In addition, when paired with black, pink suddenly takes on the characteristics of its edgier counterpart.
When traveling, I always check the weather in an effort to pack sensibly and accordingly. Although we are quickly approaching spring, the cold temperatures haven’t completely left us, as you never know what mother nature has up her sleeve. Consequently, here are my tips for fashionable winter dressing when traveling to a cold weather destination.
A woman’s closet would not be complete without a few cozy and chunky knit sweaters. Long gone are the days of ugly, itchy, scratchy sweaters that only served a utilitarian purpose. I tend to think sweaters are the unsung heros of fashion. Considered banal by some, they are often overlooked in favor of more fashionable pieces. However, modern day sweaters are now chic, feminine, and stylish. That being said, doesn’t it feel wonderful to bundle up in a soft, slouchy, oversized sweater or cardigan? I have a thing for sweaters and I love a cozy cardigan!
When I’m not obsessing over clothing, shoes or my horse, I love traveling and being the intrepid explorer with my husband. San Diego is typically our getaway destination because we love to surf. Ahh, yes….the many faces of Dayna. Equestrian, surfer, skater, dental hygienist, fashionista, shoe addict, step-mom, wife, home-maker, and blogger oh my!
